NEW YORK (August 3, 2009) - Inspired by the juxtaposition of life’s imperfections and unconventional beauty, emerging artist Edwin Bolta Jr. has evolved from sketching Looney Tunes characters before kindergarten to painting raw fine art that seeks to challenge the viewer’s conception of the beautiful.
His first piece, You’re Dead to Me, was created in 2006. This piece portrays the unfortunate demise of relationships that occur throughout life, whether it was with family, friends, or past relationships.
“My art represents the various trials and tribulations of life,” says Bolta. “Like all art forms, it provides an outlet for me to express myself, while at the same time, giving me the opportunity to separate myself from reality and explore my most inner thoughts.”
His paintings range from acrylic paints and aerosol spray to ballpoint pens, featured on cardboard, wood, or newspaper. The ability to work on different materials adds a certain element that you can’t attain on a canvas.
Bolta adds, “One of my favorite pieces is Fuck the Noise because it is ultimately a self-portrait. Fuck The Noise highlights my own inner clarity — separate from the chaos, which is the world around us.”
